Social Service DirectorMy name is Fram Mejino. I have been the Director of Social Services at Elmhurst Extended Care for 14 years. I hold a Master's Degree and have obtained various certifications in Dementia Care, Geriatric Care Management, and Leadership Training in Best Care/Diversity Practice. I have served in various capacities in the Health Care Industry, but in my current role, I am responsible for advocating and overseeing that the resident and family obtain the services that they need within the facility and after discharge from the facility. I conduct support groups, trainings, and manage any grievances in the facility. Prior to Healthcare, my experience was Behavioral/ Substance Abuse Counseling with children, adults, and families at mental health centers, residential centers, and within the criminal justice system. My joy is spending time with family and friends, reading, and drinking wine. Finally, my goal and continued interest is helping others obtain Quality Care.
Noel Tapia
Assistant Director of NursingMy name is Noel Tapia. I started in EECC as a License Practical Nurse in 2011. I acquired my Registered Nurse license in 2014 and had the pleasure of working as a Nurse Liaison. I am currently the Assistant Director of Nursing and MDS Coordinator. In my current position, I help manage the nursing staff with day to day job responsibilities, oversee and facilitate the completion of resident assessments and create individualized care plans for each resident. I recently acquired my Bachelor's in Nursing in 2018 from Aurora University. I am married with two wonderful children. I love to run, adventurous activities, and cook. I love sports: Football, Basketball, Track & Field, and Mixed Martial Arts. I am currently working on acquiring my Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Cindy Gawryla
Activities DirectorHi, my name is Cindy Gawryla and I am the Activity Director at EECC. I am responsible for developing and implementing meaningful activities of interest for the residents, at all functional levels and overseeing my activity assistants. I am a Certified Dementia Practitioner and am Activity Director Certified through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals. I have extensive training in Alzheimer's and dementia care, including the 48 hour Multi-Disciplinary Certificate Program in Dementia Assessment, Care and Management. I also provide dementia training for staff and families at EECC. I enjoy bringing a smile or laughter to the residents and what really makes my day is when one of the residents accomplishes a new task they haven't done before or don't think they can. I don't accept I can't, only I'll try. In my leisure time I enjoy cooking, traveling, spending time with family and the quest for a bargain.
Christine Fitzgerald
Director of Dining Services and Registered DietitianMy name is Christine Fitzgerald and I am the Director of Dining Services and Registered Dietitian at EECC. I hold a masters degree in Nutrition and Wellness from Benedictine University. I’m a Texan at heart but landed in the Midwest and have gained clinical nutrition experience in a variety of hospitals and long term care centers throughout Chicagoland. As the Director of Dining, I oversee all dining operations including menu planning, meal prep, and food safety and sanitation to provide a fresh and delicious dining experience. I also have the pleasure of working closely with the residents as the dietitian to conduct nutrition risk assessments and provide one-on-one nutrition counselling. My passion is setting the record straight; I love fighting food fads and misinformation so that others are inspired to live healthy lives through balanced nutrition. In my free time I’m a wife, musician, home chef, amateur photographer, and dog mom. I’d love to keep learning new instruments and hopefully play with a symphony one day!
